Egyptian banks belonging to the activity on Sunday after the holiday "mandatory"



Banks to resume its activity in Egypt on Sunday 19/2/2011, after the holiday compulsory obtained during the last period, because of the circumstances in which the country is undergoing, which forced the central bank to take a decision to disrupt the work to avoid any problems that may occur.

According to banking sources close to Qatar News Agency "Qana", a number of presidents of the banks have held lengthy meetings settled through emphasis on the importance of cooperation to provide foreign exchange needed to meet the needs of opening documentary credits for import of commodities from abroad, especially wheat and food without regard to the payment of client ratio scheduled to open these funds, banks have already meet all the requests made in this regard over the past week.

Sources added that the total has already been hatched to open credits for commodities arrived over the past ten days to about one billion dollars, was full cooperation between the management of banks among them. Also addressed the meetings among the heads of top banks agreed to provide foreign currencies especially the dollar for any client, in order to close all ports to create a black market for currency outside the banking system.

On the other hand, the sources said it was also agreed on the need to solve the problems of workers in banks and setting a specific timetable to resolve these problems so that the available climate stability, security for the banking system units carry on its operations and activities under these exact circumstances experienced by the country, in order to driving economic activity again. The sources pointed out that the central bank governor rejected all the resignations submitted by some heads of the boards of a number of banks following the protests by some employees, and asked the governor of those leaders continue to work.
